Cam Indexing Mechanism is a mechanical system designed to convert continuous rotational motion into precise, intermittent rotational movements. It is commonly used in automation and machinery where components need to be rotated in fixed angular increments (indexing) for operations like assembly, machining, or packaging.

Components of Cam Indexing Mechanism:

1. Cam: A specially profiled disc or cylinder that dictates the motion pattern.
2. Follower: A component (roller or lever) that tracks the cam’s profile, translating its shape into motion.
3. Output Shaft: The part that rotates incrementally, driven by the follower’s movement.
4. Housing/Frame: Supports the cam and output assembly.

PMC runs the complete in‑process testing procedure. QC then inspects each Cam Indexing Mechanism prior to dispatch.

Our shipping standard for this Cam Indexing Mechanism features two boxes: a tough inner box plus a plywood outer box. This double layer keeps the product safe from damage.

FAQs about Cam Indexing Mechanism

How It Works:

1. Rotation Phase: As the cam rotates, its lobe (raised profile) engages the follower.
2. Indexing Motion: The follower’s movement (via the cam’s lobe) drives the output shaft to rotate a predetermined angle.
3. Dwell Phase: When the cam’s profile flattens, the output shaft remains stationary, allowing time for operations (e.g., drilling, filling) to occur.
4. Return/Reset: The follower returns to its starting position, either passively (spring/gravity) or via a secondary cam lobe.

Types of Cam Indexing Mechanism:

Parallel (Flat) Cam Indexers: Use a flat disc cam with followers in the same plane.
Cylindrical (Barrel) Cam Indexers: Employ a cylindrical cam with grooves for followers, enabling complex motion in 3D space.

How do you unerstand DT Cam Indexing Mechanism?

DT Cam Indexer uses a globoidal cam with two separate roller tracks. Each track engages a different follower set. The input shaft rotates continuously. Followers alternately engage each track. This produces two output indexes per input revolution. The DT design doubles indexing positions without enlarging the cam.

How does a DT mechanism differ from a standard indexer?

A DT Cam Indexer gives two indexes per input turn. A standard indexer gives one index per turn. DT doubles positions without size increase.

What is the maximum number of stops?

DT Cam Indexer can provide up to 48 stops. Each stop equals one output position. The dual track arrangement allows more stops per cam size.
