How to Measure And Verify The Accuracy of the Track of Circular Rail System? 03/03/2026 FAQ / FAQ About Circular Conveyors / FAQ About Circular Motion 246 ViewsCircular Rail System is a high-precision closed-loop motion mechanism consisting of a circular rail, a linear rail, and a rotating worktable. It guides the sliding seat to continuously circulate along a circular arc trajectory through precision V-shaped or trapezoidal guide rails, achieving multi station synchronous machining and assembly. Circular Rail System combines high rigidity, low friction, and high repeatability positioning accuracy, and is widely used in packaging, printing, and automated assembly lines. It can significantly save space and improve overall equipment efficiency. In the installation and acceptance process of Circular Rail System, the measurement and verification of track accuracy are the core prerequisites for ensuring long-term stable operation of equipment, reducing noise wear, and preventing vehicle jamming. As the engineering team of TallMan Robotics, we have developed a complete detection system from static benchmarks to dynamic trajectories over the years of delivering heavy-duty high-speed circular lines. The following is a detailed technical interpretation on how to measure and verify accuracy of the Track of Circular Rail System, including three mainstream detection methods and practical cases of TallMan:Laser tracker: the ultimate anchor of spatial coordinate systemFor Circular Rail System with large diameters (usually>5 meters) or high beat requirements, traditional wire drawing methods are no longer able to meet micrometer level requirements.Measurement principle: Using the principle of laser interference, the target ball travels along the track, and the instrument tracks and establishes an actual digital model of the track in three-dimensional space in real time. Verification indicators: Focus on flatness (whether the track is in a plane) and arc contour. TallMan practical case: In a new energy vehicle battery module production line, the customer requested that the line body have no jerkiness at a speed of 1.2m/s. We use Leica laser tracker to perform total station scanning on an 8-meter diameter loop. A 0.5mm height difference (step difference) was found at the junction of two tracks. By using laser data to guide grinding and gasket adjustment, the final height difference at the joint was controlled within 0.15mm, eliminating the impact noise during high-speed operation.Electronic level: benchmark calibration under gravity field in Circular Rail Conveyor System. The horizontal bearing capacity of the track of Circular Rail System directly determines whether the car will overturn or be loaded unevenly.Measurement principle: Using a high-precision electronic inclinometer, data is collected every 300-500mm along the track to generate a horizontal curve graph. Verification indicators: Horizontal levelness (inhibits rollover) and vertical levelness (inhibits climbing). TallMan practical case: In a 20 meter heavy-duty loop delivered by TallMan to a heavy machinery assembly plant, ground settlement caused local track distortion. We used a wireless electronic level to conduct grid measurement and found that the horizontal deviation on the outer side of the arc segment exceeded 0.1 °/m. By redesigning the grouting layer and adjusting the anchor bolts, we eliminated the “roll moment” caused by gravity and ensured that the 5-ton heavy-duty car did not experience eccentric wear at the bend.Specialized optical/mechanical inspection tools: dynamic simulation for accompanying diagnosis in Circular Rail Conveyor System.Static measurement passing does not mean smooth dynamic operation of Circular Rail System. This is a crucial aspect emphasized by the TallMan R&D team.Measurement principle: Design an accompanying inspection tool that simulates the actual contour of a vehicle, with a dial gauge or laser displacement sensor installed on the tool. Manually push the measuring tool to walk around the loop and read the jumping data of the side and top surfaces of the guide rail. Verification indicators: Smoothness of track docking, straightness of guiding surface, and consistency with center of curvature. TallMan practical case: During the no-load debugging phase of the food and beverage conveyor line, we found that bottles were frequently shaking in front of the encoder. By using a self-made optical detection tool (simulating the height of the bottle body) to navigate around a bend, it was found that the curvature of the middle section of the bend suddenly changed due to welding deformation. We used the feedback data from the inspection tool to perform local flame fine-tuning on this section of the track, making the centripetal force transition of the bottle smooth at the bend.TallMan Robotics believes that ‘without measurement, there can be no manufacturing’. In the accuracy verification of the Circular Rail System: 1. Can Use a laser tracker to solve the problem of “geometric shape”; 2. Or Use an electronic level to solve the problem of “gravity bearing”; 3. Either to Use specialized gauges to solve the problem of “dynamic interaction”.Only by combining the three can we ensure that the circular track operates seamlessly under high-speed and heavy load conditions.Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@tallmanroboticsTiktok: https://www.tiktok.com/@tallmanroboticsFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/tallmanroboticsLinkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/tallman-roboticsTags:Aluminumcircular guide railCircular Guide Rail Circulation LineCircular Saw Guide RailCurved Guides and RailsCurved Rail System for AutomotionCurved Rails and Track System ComponentsCustom Curved Rail SystemParallel Guide Rail SystemParallel Rail Guide System For Circular Conveyor SystemPrecision Circular SystemsRound Rail Linear Guide SystemsTrack Guide Rail SystemVertical circular guide rail conveyor systemsShare:FacebookTwitterLinkedInWhatsAppPinterestTumblrWeChat QR CodeScan the QR Code to share on WeChatWeChatE-MailPrintPrev: Does the Running Speed of Loop Track Conveyor System Arc Segments Need to Be Reduced?Next: Will The Accuracy of Closed Track Conveyor Deteriorate After Long-Term Use?
