Electric Hollow Rotary Tables are motorized positioning hollow rotary actuators featuring a central through-bore that extends axially through the rotating output flange. The hollow shaft allows passage of cables, pneumatic lines, fluid hoses, or optical beams directly through the table axis, eliminating external drag chains. The drive system integrates a stepper motor or a servo motor with a precision gear reducer (harmonic, planetary, or worm). Crossed roller bearings support the hollow output, providing high axial, radial, and moment load rigidity. An externally mounted Omron sensor provides closed-loop feedback for angular positioning accuracy typically within ±10 arcseconds and repeatability of ±1 arcsecond.

  • What is the difference between a direct-drive hollow actuator and a geared version?

A direct-drive table uses a torque motor directly coupled to the hollow output shaft, offering zero backlash, high speed, and smooth motion at low velocities. Geared versions (harmonic, planetary, or worm) use a motor plus reducer, providing higher torque density and self-locking capability (worm gear) but introduce backlash and lower maximum speed. Choose direct-drive for precision contouring or laser scanning. Choose geared for heavy loads or power-off holding.
