Force transducers are precision devices that convert mechanical quantities such as force, pressure, and torque into measurable electrical signals.  When external forces act on the sensitive components of sensors, the components will undergo elastic deformation, resistance changes, capacitance changes, or piezoelectric effects.

These physical changes are converted into standard electrical signals such as voltage and current through subsequent circuits, and accurate force information can be obtained after data processing. For applications requiring high accuracy, Force Transducers play an essential role in measurement systems.

Technical evaluation of TallMan Robotics Force Transducers

This force transducer converts mechanical force into an electrical signal. Strain gauge types bond metal foil gauges to a flexure body. Force transducers are devices that convert mechanical force into an electrical signal for measurement and analysis. They work by detecting strain, deformation, or pressure caused by an applied force.

The table below contains both visual representation and detailed specs of these contact sensors.

FAQs

How does a strain gauge sensor work?

Force bends the flexure body. Strain gauges stretch or compress on the surface. This changes electrical resistance proportionally.

What is the difference between load cell and force sensors?

Load cell is a type of force transducer. Force transducer includes load cells, piezoelectric sensors, and fiber optic types.

What is the difference between force transducers and load cells?

A load cell is a specific type of force transducer designed for measuring weight or force. All load cells are force transducers, but not all force transducers are load cells.
