DE Indexing Cam is a mechanical device that converts continuous rotary input motion into intermittent, precisely positioned output motion. The Indexing Cam consists of a cam with a specific curved profile and a set of followers (typically roller gears) mounted on a turret.

As the input shaft rotates, the Indexing Cam engages the followers, driving the output shaft to rotate a predetermined angle—this is the indexing phase. During the remaining input rotation, the cam locks the output shaft in position—this is the dwell phase.

Technical Highlights of TallMan Robotics DE Flange Shaft Output Indexing Cam

This DE indexing cam is a mechanical component used to control stepwise rotation in automated systems. It works by converting continuous rotary motion into precise, intermittent movements, with fixed indexing intervals. The cam profile, typically cylindrical, drives a follower that moves the driven part in a controlled manner.

FAQs about Indexing Cam

  • What do you know about this gearbox?

An indexing cam is a mechanical component with a precisely ground three-dimensional profile. It converts continuous shaft rotation into intermittent motion or oscillating output. The cam surface contacts roller followers mounted on a turret or output shaft.

  • How does a conjugate cam differ from single cam?

A conjugate cam has two separate working surfaces. This eliminates follower jump at high speeds.

  • Can I repair a worn cam indexer?

No. Ground surface removal changes the cam profile. You must replace the cam assembly.

  • How does cam rise function affect indexing?

Rise function defines acceleration jerk. Modified sine or trapezoidal functions provide smooth motion.
