Intermittent Rotary Indexer refer to mechanical systems that utilize a cam as a key component to convert rotational motion into linear motion or to control the timing and movement of other parts within a machine. DA Intermittent Rotary Indexers are compact rotary positioning devices that use a precision cam and follower mechanism to generate intermittent motion with fixed angular increments. The ultrathin structure reduces overall height while maintaining rigidity and load capacity. A continuously rotating input shaft drives a profiled cam, which guides followers to index a flat rotary table.

Functional Summary of TallMan Robotics DA Intermittent Rotary Indexer

This DA Intermittent Rotary Indexer uses a flat conjugate cam and a low-profile turret. A thin-section crossed roller bearing supports the output table. The bearing sits inside the table perimeter. The cam drives needle roller followers arranged in a single plane. The input shaft runs parallel to the table surface.

FAQs about DA Intermittent Rotary Indexer

  • What does intermittent rotary motion mean?

The output shaft rotates for a short angle then stops completely. It repeats this move-stop sequence continuously.

  • How does the indexer lock during dwell?

A mechanical locking ring or cam segment engages the output hub. No power or brake keeps the shaft stationary.

  • Can I change dwell ratio after purchase?

No. The cam profile determines the fixed dwell ratio. You must order a different cam ratio.

  • Can I reverse the output direction?

No. Most intermittent indexers operate in one rotation direction only. Reverse operation damages the locking mechanism.

  • What causes missed indexes?

Slipping drive belt or loose coupling causes missed indexes. Check input shaft torque first. Encoder slip also causes this.
