What Are The Connection Methods Between Carriages And Track of Ring Guide Rail Conveyor?

What is Ring Guide Rail Conveyor?

Here in this post, we’ll study a case, client has concern: How to design the connection between slides And track of Ring Guide Rail Conveyor?

On 24th,Feb 2026, we got an inquiry from Canada as follows:

Subject: Product Inquiry for “Precise link conveyor systems”

Can you share specs/CAD for this system?
We’re exploring solutions for our robotic cell, the conveyor will transport the products from one station to the other and wait for the robots to perform the tasks.
What information do we need to provide to get a quote? And how do you design the connection between carriages and track?
Thank you

On the same day, we replied as follows:
Dear Sir. Thank you for your e-mail, glad to hear from you.yes, In order to design a proper conveyer system, it is highly recommended to fill this form attached with more basic data so that our engineering department can support you more efficiently. For further questions, please feel free to contact us.

Thank you for your feedback, glad you have detailed data for design. Here is one more question about Downward pressure on a single sliding carriage when working 单个滑座上做工时向下冲压力情况, can you specifiy the data, such as how many kgs/ slide station? Such as 1kg, 3 kgs, or 5 kgs, or even more?
As this is involed with our selection with Alulinium profile system or complete bottom plate, cost is different.

Hi Jack,

The load on each plate will be of up to 4kg, and the downward force will be of up to 10N (1kg), so the maximum load applied to the plate should be limited to 5Kg.

Can you also provide me with quote and CAD for the Horizontal rectangular conveyor?

For the rectangular conveyor, the dimensions would be 1.5mx1.5m, so a square conveyor essentially.

On 5th, March 2026

Hi Jack,Essentially, yes.The reason is that I’m still designing the cell layout, and the oval and rectangle options provide different setups, so I would like to evaluate them in terms of cost.

On the same day, we reply:

Dear Sir, Thank you for your patience.
Engineering department spent time designing this, attached please find 3D and 2D of oval type, and rectangle type for your check.

On 7th, March 2026

Hi Jack,Thanks for the step files and the tech drawings, both models look good. Can you provide me with a quote for both? I need to analyse the cost of the solutions as well.

Does it come with a controller/driver for the conveyor? If yes, what’s the interface/communication used?

On 9th, March 20206

Dear Sir, Tassio, Thank you for your feedback.Attached please find two offers, one is for oval type, another one is for rectangle type.About controller, HMI, drive, Motor, etc, i have listed in it, and it is for option.

On 16th, March 2026

Hi Jack,I’ve received your last email and the quotes make sense for us, however, I would like to know if it’s possible to add the indexing pins for all plates for the rectangular conveyor. We plan on having a robot on each side of the conveyor and the 4th side would be reserved for the output. No need for another CAD for this, just an updated quote will do.

Regarding the controller, can you share the documentation, so we know how to integrate to our PLC? As mentioned before, we’re still evaluating the options for the project’s transfer system at this time, I’ll reach out as soon as we decide which option fits best.

On the same, day, we reply:

Dear Sir, Tassio ,Thank you for your feedback. I don’t quite undestand, what do you mean by “indexing pin”?,You refer to the positioning mechnisam like the parts i squared? About controller and HMI, yes, please check files as attached. For further questions, please feel free to contact us.

ON 17th, March 2026

Hi Jack, Yes, I mean the positioning mechanism you highlighted.
Thanks for the files, I’ll check them out.

On 18th, March 2026

Dear Sir, Tassio Borges da Silva

yes, engineers now have updated design, please check updated PI and 3D for your confirmation. Controller, HMI, drive, Motor, etc are for option.

In Ring Guide Rail Conveyor system, the connection between carriages and  track has two categories: mechanical connection and guidance, and power connection and transmission. These two factors work together. As a result, the carrier can run smoothly and accurately along Ring Guide Rail Conveyor.

Below we introduce the classification of design connection methods for TallMan Robotics’ Ring Guide Rail Conveyor product:

Mechanical connection and guidance method for Ring Guide Rail Conveyor:

This is the most fundamental physical connection between the carrier and the track. It determines how the carrier can move along it.

Rolling connection between rollers and guide rails:

This is currently the most mainstream method. The carrier (slide) is in contact with the V-shaped guide surface of the track through several sets of V-shaped rollers (including concentric and eccentric wheels) installed on itself. In this setup, its advantages are:
Low friction: The rolling friction coefficient is very small (about 0.02). Therefore, it runs smoothly.
High wear resistance: The guide rails and rollers are usually made of quenched steel. As a result, they have a long service life for Ring Guide Rail Conveyor.
Adjustable clearance: The pre tension or clearance between the roller and the guide rail can be precisely adjusted through the eccentric wheel. This eliminates shaking and ensures motion accuracy.
Sliding connection between slider and guide rail: In some patented designs or specific applications of Ring Guide Rail Conveyor, the slider may also slide in an embedded track. This method has a relatively simple structure.

Power connection and transmission method:

The carrier itself has no power. It has to run on the track through an external transmission system.

The main connection methods between the carrier and the transmission components in Guide Rail Conveyor Line are as follows:

Transmission modeCarrier connection modeCharacteristics and applications
Timing Belt driveBelt buckle/pressure plate fixation: The slide seat is fastened to the synchronous belt through *belt buckle or screw pressure plate and other connecting parts. When the synchronous belt wheel drives the synchronous belt to move, it drives the slide to run.The most widely used. Simple structure, smooth transmission, low noise, and fast speed. Suitable for most precision assembly and inspection lines with medium to light loads and high speeds.
Chain DrivePin Shaft/Chain Link Connection:The slider is directly connected to the chain links through Pin Shaft .It has a stronger load-bearing capacity than synchronous belts and is suitable for heavy-duty and high thrust application scenarios, such as automotive parts assembly lines.
Screw transmissionIndirect connection : The slide is usually matched with the screw through nuts or special connectors to convert the rotational motion of the screw into linear motion.High precision movement and positioning can be achieved in the straight section of the circular orbit, but it is difficult to apply to the circular arc section. Usually only used for special, non full circular layouts.
Sliding rod slider follow-up mechanismFloating connection : This is a special patented design. The carrier in a sliding block that slides along the track, and the sliding block to a guide block that can slide along the sliding rod. The drive belt pulls the sliding rod, which in turn drives the slider and the carrier to move through the guide block.

This design solves the problem of “jamming” that may occur when the traction component (belt) provides greater flexibility, especially suitable for long circular tracks.

Special structure: dual track connection in Guide Rail Conveyor Line.

For the transportation of heavy-duty or large-sized products,we can use a double track Ring Guide Rail Conveyor structure.
At this point, we can connect a carrier to two parallel tracks simultaneously. According to the layout of the track, the connection method also varies:

Vertical double track: We fix carriages on two vertical circular guide rails arranged symmetrically or forward and backward through sliding seat. This can effectively increase Ring Guide Rail Conveyor stiffness.
Horizontal double track: we connect  carriages to two horizontal circular guide rails arranged vertically or internally and externally through sliding seat. This significantly improves its load-bearing capacity.

Overall, the connection between carriages and track of the Ring Guide Rail Conveyor is a system solution:
At the guiding level, it mainly relies on the precise rolling coordination between V-shaped rollers and V-shaped guide rails. This achieves low friction and high-precision motion constraints for Ring Guide Rail Conveyor.
At the driving level, the carrier is fixed to the synchronous belt or chain through connecting parts such as belt buckles and pin shafts. Consequently, it obtains power.

This design separates guidance from drive. As a result, it ensures both precision in motion and provides flexible power options and strong load-bearing capacity in Guide Rail Conveyor Line.

Are you currently working on scheme design and selection? Or have you encountered specific operational failures? If there are more specific application scenarios for Ring Guide Rail Conveyor (such as load weight, speed requirements, accuracy level), our company can provide you with more targeted suggestions.
