Single Axis Actuators are generally divided into two transmission modes: ball screw transmission and synchronous belt (synchronous toothed belt) transmission. Both of them are guided by linear guide rail, and can be positioned, loaded and transported in different application fields with servo motor or stepping motor.

This single axis module integrates a drive mechanism, linear guideway, structural housing, and position feedback into one ready to install assembly. The module mounts motors directly to the housing. The carriage travels along the base profile on recirculating ball bearings. An internal ballscrew converts rotary input to linear output.

FAQs about Single Axis Modules

• What components come inside a single axis module?
  A single axis module includes the linear guideway, drive mechanism, housing, carriage, limit switches, and cable carrier. The module does not include the motor or driver. The user adds motor and controller separately.
• How is a single axis module different from a linear actuator?
  No difference exists between these names. Single axis module emphasizes the mechanical assembly. Linear actuator emphasizes the motion function. Both describe the same product. Manufacturers use both terms interchangeably.
• Can I connect multiple single axis modules together?
  Yes you bolt modules together to build XY or XYZ systems. Mount one module as the base axis. Mount the second module perpendicular on the first carriage. Add a third module for Z axis vertical motion.
• What motor types mount on a single axis module?
  The module accepts NEMA stepper motors and standard servo motors. The motor coupling connects directly to the drive shaft. Some modules accept frameless motors inside the housing. Use manufacturer adapters for other motor brands.
• What end of travel sensors come with the module?
  Modules include normally closed magnetic reed switches. Sensors mount in slots at each end. Users replace reed switches with NPN or PNP proximity sensors. Home sensor mounts at one end for reference position.
