Mechanical insight into TallMan Robotics Torque Transducers

Torque transducers are precision sensors that measure rotational force by detecting shear strain in a shaft or elastic element under load. They use strain gauges, magnetoelastic effects, or optical sensing to convert torsional deformation into proportional electrical signals.

Below is a categorized list of Torque Transducers, each accompanied by photos and detailed technical specifications.

FAQs about Torque Transducers

How does this sensor differ from a torsion sensor?

The terms are identical. Torque transducer means the complete device including housing. Torsion sensor refers to the sensing element only.

What angle do strain gauges mount on a torque transducer?

Strain gauges bond at 45 degrees to the shaft axis. This orientation captures maximum shear strain from torque.

Can torque transducers measure static torque?

Yes. Strain gauge types measure static torque directly. The Wheatstone bridge outputs a steady DC voltage.

Can this sensor measure both directions?

Yes. The output signal changes polarity. Positive voltage for clockwise, negative for counterclockwise torque.
